Meet the Owner
Joanna Miller
Welcome! I’m so excited you’re here. I am the owner of Asaph School of Music, LLC where I believe that all people were created with musical ability. As such, I am passionate about helping all skill levels and ages in their musical journeys, especially the adult beginner. My journey to becoming a musician and educator looks different than most and I’m glad to share a bit of my story here.
As a fully licensed music teacher I believe in creating a space that is safe to discover all facets of music, including theory, technique, and exploration in a holistic manner. No two students are the same and an individualized approach to learning is warranted based on instrument, skill level, desired outcomes, and goals.
I have always loved music and have sung throughout my life; however, my official training didn’t begin until 2017 at the age of 33. My dedication to understanding the language of music and its history, building music making skills in voice and various instruments, and practically applying music teaching methods has earned me a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Minot State University and a Master of Music, Music Education from North Dakota State University. At MSU, I studied applied voice as a mezzo-soprano under Dr. DeVera Bowles. Beyond the scope of my master requirements at NDSU, I studied vocal pedagogy and applied voice under Dr. Karissa Templeton.
