Asaph is a name that means gatherer. While many bear this name, one Asaph referenced in Scripture was a Levite priest who was appointed as a Chief Musician. He was known for being a skillful musician, wrote several Psalms, and his job was to unify the people who gathered for communal worship through music. Similarly, Asaph School of Music desires to gather people from all backgrounds and experience, equip them with skills, and help them pursue their individual music making goals that edify the whole community.
